11/12/18 DAC Email - ALL LEVELS

Good morning-

A few things for you.  Please make sure to share with your principals.

PLEASE NOTE:
1. 10th grade students will field test new graduation requirement assessments in reading and math.  These will be based on English I & II standards and Algebra I and Geometry standards.

2. The science tests in 4th, 7th, and 11th grades are operational this year, meaning they will be a part of the accountability measures.

3.  Funding is not yet secured for a 10th grade ACT.  If funding is secured, it will be given on the same day as the 11th grade.

2018-2019 Assessments Included in Accountability Indicators

PLEASE NOTE:
1. Writing will be included in a separate academic indicator for high school accountability.

FINALLY:
KDE has released a blueprint for the assessments.  Please pay particular attention to the science assessments.  Here is the LINK for the blueprint.

Good morning.  See below.

GRADE 6 MATHEMATICS TASK B SUPPLEMENTAL PAGE (ATTENTION)
District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) should expect to receive a single shipment early next week (Monday-Wednesday), November 5-7, that will enclose a supplemental page for Grade 6 Mathematics, Task B.  The change identified applies to specific information represented on the resource page. Schools are encouraged to wait on the grade 6 mathematics assessment until the corrected version of the supplemental page arrives. This change only impacts the supplemental page (page 13) for Grade 6 Mathematics Task B. All test items are correct. For any questions, please contact Kevin O’Hair

ATTAINMENT TASK (AT) ADMINISTRATION RESOURCE PROVIDED
The first Alternate K-PREP Testing Window for the 2018-2019 school year begins on Monday, November 5. Jaci Norman and Karen Guettler have provided the video below as a resource to assist in the administration of the Attainment Tasks. Changes to the administration new this year are that there will only be three answer choices instead of four. Also, you will want to check out the example provided in the video as it displays how you may administer the assessments as they are no longer printed in landscape orientation, but now in portrait to accommodate the three answer choice items displayed on the page.

FIRST ALTERNATE K-PREP TESTING WINDOW ADMINISTRATION BEGINS MONDAY (NOVEMBER 5)
The first Alternate K-PREP testing window to administer Attainment Tasks (AT) will begin Monday, November 5. This will be the first of two windows set to assess content standards for reading, mathematics, science, social studies, and writing. No tasks may be administered before Monday, November 5.

Instruction may continue into the testing window as long as the content provided is not derived from the actual Attainment Tasks being administered. Once the task administration begins, all instruction for that standard should cease until after the task administration has been completed. The first testing window will end December 14.

STUDENT REGISTRATION DATABASE (SRD) OPENS FOR SCORE ENTRY MONDAY (NOVEMBER 5)

Teachers who have received notification about the SRD opening November 5 will be able to access the system for score entry. No teachers will have access to the SRD before November 5. Anyone denied access to the SRD on or after November 5 should contact their DAC, DoSE or District Alternate Assessment representative to request activation into the system. Activation to enter scores must be completed at the district level. For teachers who have received access to the SRD, a PowerPoint has been provided with details about working in the system.

11/5/18 DAC Email - Elementary and Middle

Good morning.  See below.

INPUT REQUESTED FOR POSSIBLE ONLINE TEST ADMINISTRATION

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is gathering information to explore the possibility of online test administration at the elementary and middle school levels. The Office of Assessment and Accountability (OAA) is trying to determine the amount of time elementary and middle schools will need to administer state assessments online. Building Assessment Coordinators (BACs) are asked to complete a Survey Monkey about the assessments purchased for their district’s elementary and middle schools. Also, provide the types and number of electronic student devices available. This is a similar survey that DACs completed in July. BACs are asked to complete the survey on or before Wednesday, November 21.

School Test Coordinators and Test Accommodations Coordinators are encouraged to attend. District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) are also welcome to attend.

EXPECT E-MAIL FROM ACT: PEARSONACCESSnext AND TAA OPENING

This week, ACT Test Coordinators (TCs) will receive an e-mail from NoReplyTestAdmin@act.org announcing the Monday, November 5 opening of PearsonAccessnext and the Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) System. District Assessment Coordinators (DACs) will be copied on the e-mail. The e-mail message will include directions for accessing the systems and completing required tasks within the systems. It will also include links to system user guides with more detailed information.
After logging in to the system, TCs will be able to submit participation information (deadline: November 30).
Test Coordinators will use the TAA system to request ACT-approved accommodations and manage the status of those requests. The deadline to request ACT-approved accommodations is January 25, 2019. Additional resources can be found at www.act.org/stateanddistrict/kentucky.
If School Test Coordinators have changed since 2018 testing, DACs should forward the ACT e-mail to the current Test Coordinator and then make the change to TC contact information in PAN when it opens on November 5. Directions for changing TCs can be found in the PAN User Guide for ACT or the Managing Contacts video.
New DACs that do not have an account in PearsonAccessnext for ACT should e-mail Jenni Larkins or call 502-564-4394.
